Exporting coffee in Vietnam was still considered the “backbone industry” in the past years. It contributes largely to the total exports of Vietnam’s agricultural products. However, with the lack of major brands, the lack of processing production standards to meet the requirements in the importing countries are the major barriers in the export of coffee in Vietnam. So that accidentally causes us to waste the abundant potential of coffee.
Quantity of Coffee in Viet Nam is extremely abundant and cornucopia. And Coffee in Vietnam has two main categories Robusta and Arabica, of which Robusta is accounting for the largest proportion.
Robusta Coffee is grown mainly in Daklak, Lam Dong, Đak Nong and Gia Lai. So the quantity here is very high and keeps the key role in business, manufacturing and export processing.
Export standard of coffee based on a lot of factors and is issued clearly by the legislation.
How to evaluate exported coffee standards
The quality of the coffee (unroasted Café) classified according to TCNV 4193:2001 (Third revision), is issued and compiled by the standard Technical Board TCVN/TC/F16 “Coffee and coffee products”. General Department of Standards of Measurement Quality recommendations and promulgated by Ministry of Science, Technology and the environment.
After sampling we conduct analysis – define Defective particles, particles defects. Each type of error has 1 private score.
From which to rank the quality of coffee in special class, Division 1.2 2.3.
Beside error identification, we categorized based on the size of the sieve hole. So samples will be on the sieve and consider the rate to be categorized.
What is first-grade export coffee in Viet Nam?
First-grade export coffee must simultaneously meet standard as minimum 90% on sieve 18, humidity 12%,black and broken coffee beans<0.1% for R1
5% Black and broken beans for robusta R2
Means the highest standard, the most beautiful particle .
Broken Coffee beans when roasting is prone to burning because of structure imperfections. It’s produces an cup of imperfect espresso coffee with client.
The coffee beans are broken by the preservation that produce a cup of coffee not tasty and contain harmful toxins health.
